Dubbels
Set in an abandoned ski resort in the mountains, Dubbels is a horror-comedy built on practical effects and intentional, story-driven design.
As Prop Master, I went beyond sourcing specialized props to add custom, narrative-driven touches—most notably on the film’s pivot object, The Dubbels Bible. I selected an aged book for its size, wear, and understated cover, then created a new spine featuring a hand-carved mystical symbol embossed in gold foil to match the page edges. I also designed a custom map and applied a variety of paper-staining techniques to ensure the pages felt authentically aged and integrated seamlessly with the story.
As Production Designer, I crafted and dressed a variety of spaces—including the ski lodge, a character’s apartment, and a hidden antagonist’s lair—transforming practical locations into immersive, cinematic environments. Each set was designed to support tone, character, and narrative while balancing the practical realities of production.
This project highlights my approach to design: story-first, hands-on, and driven by attention to detail, whether through prop fabrication, spatial storytelling, or set transformation.
